Welcome back, Arizona Aggies, to another insightful edition of Arizona Agriculture Connection. As we step into the holiday season, with Christmas just around the corner, there's a significant development for our farming community. Today, the Trump administration has announced a new Farm aid package totaling $12 billion.

Unpacking the $12 Billion Farm Aid Package

This substantial aid includes one-time bridge payments, designed as interim assistance until October 1st, 2026, when the anticipated support from the "One Big Beautiful Bill" act will commence. These payments are specifically designated for row crop farmers. If you are a producer of barley, chickpeas, corn, cotton, lentils, oats, peanuts, rice, peas, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, canola, cranberries, flax, mustard, rapeseed, safflower, sesame, or sunflowers, this program is tailored for you.

Farmers who meet the criteria can anticipate receiving payments in February of 2026. These will be distributed through the FBA. It's essential for farmers to ensure that their 2025 acreage reporting is both factual and accurate, with a submission deadline of December 19th, 2025. Compliance and New Labeling Requirements

Shifting focus to compliance, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) will be conducting webinars to spotlight new requirements related to the "Product of USA" labeling compliance. USDA Supplemental Disaster Relief Program

In addition, Stage two of the USDA Supplemental Disaster Relief Program is now open, with applications accepted since November 24th. The deadline to apply is April 30th, 2026. This program covers a range of assistance for shallow losses, uninsured crops, and the non-insured crop disaster assistance program, with a specific focus on shallow losses and all uninsured specialty crops.
